Graeme Tainsh,
Nurse Specialist & Psychotherapist

With a clinical background spanning over 10 years Graeme has experience of working with people across the lifespan. Graeme has maintained various employments within NHS services working with children, adolescents, families and adults. However, Graeme has also worked within private practice both independently and with companies. Although varied, Graeme has significant experience working with more complex mental health and neurodevelopmental problems in children and young people. Of central importance is his experience working with those who have experienced trauma and maltreatment, particularly from a young age and where neurodevelopmental concerns, such as Autism and ADHD, are present. â€‹â€‹

Graeme has a specialist interest in maltreatment associated psychological problems, and works well with those who have experienced psychological trauma. Clinically Graeme draws upon various psychological theories and models, however Graeme has advanced training in various psychological therapies.

Graeme hold's specialist training and interest in the delivery of Compassion Focused Therapy, of central importance Compassion Focused Group Psychotherapy (CFGP). Graeme is also involved with and works closely with Dr Kate Lucre, Consultant CFT Psychotherapist within CFT focused projects. Graeme has additional interests in how CFT can be mobilised for boys and men, where CFT can enhance Sport Performance and how CFT can be utilised as a method of Family Therapy and Parenting Support.

Out with his clinical work Graeme has experience and an active portfolio of Quality Improvement (QI) work with a keen focus of using QI methodology to implement and evaluate therapeutic services. A particular focus for Graeme since 2017 has been utilising QI approaches to develop, implement and evaluate therapy groups. Graeme is also a supervisor for those qualified and delivering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). ​Graeme also works with Compassion Focused Staff Support, which offers training and support to individuals working with both business, financial and statutory services across the United Kingdom. Graeme has also led workshops, webinars and lectures on various mental health related issues.

Graeme maintains professional registration and membership with the Nursing & Midwifery Council, Royal College of Nursing and maintains membership with EMDR UK and the Compassionate Mind Foundation. Graeme iis currentlyt in the process of further accreditation with EMDR UK and maintains up to date professional liability & indemnity insurance cover both privately and within RCN membership.
